Herb Descriptions:

Basil

Basil is a flavorful, leafy green herb that originated in Asia and Africa. It provides vitamins, minerals, and a range of antioxidants, while its essential oil possesses medicinal benefits. There are two main varieties of basil: sweet basil, often used in Italian cuisine, and Thai basil, commonly found in Asian dishes.

Sage

Sage is part of the mint family, alongside oregano, lavender, rosemary, thyme, and basil. This herb has a strong aroma and earthy flavor, best used in small amounts. Sage is a staple in various cuisines and is also utilized as a natural cleaning agent and in spiritual rituals. Traditionally, its leaves have been used to help manage diabetes.

Parsley

No garden is complete without this luscious, attractive, and versatile herb. Primarily used for garnishing and culinary decoration, parsley blooms in the second year with stalks bearing small yellow-green flowers. It is grown worldwide for its aromatic edible leaves.

Thyme

Thyme is a Mediterranean herb known for its dietary, medicinal, and ornamental uses. The flowers, leaves, and oil have been used to treat symptoms like stomach aches, arthritis, and sore throat. It adds a tangy flavor to meat, fish, marinades, and vegetables, and is commonly used in calming medicinal teas.

Oregano

Known for its flavorful dried leaves and beautiful flower tops, oregano is native to the hills of the Mediterranean and Western Asia. Its pungent and spicy flavor enhances a variety of dishes, including tomatoes, sauces, salad dressings, and marinades for meat.
