Some of the most valuable play happens on hands and knees. Our 1.8m Pop-Up Tunnel invites little ones to crawl, wriggle, peek and explore — turning any lounge, playroom or garden into a space for active, full-body play. It springs open in seconds, folds flat when playtime is over, and is light enough to move from room to room or take outdoors.
There’s no single right way to use it. A young toddler might simply crawl through to find a parent waiting at the other end; an older child might race through backwards, try a bear crawl, or make it the centrepiece of a home-made obstacle course with cushions and beanbags. Twist it, roll a ball through it, or turn it into a hideaway for quiet moments — the tunnel grows with your child’s ideas and abilities.
We chose this tunnel because it offers so much movement and sensory value in one simple, screen-free piece of equipment. It’s equally at home in a family lounge, a classroom or a therapy room, and because it stores so easily, it’s a toy that comes out again and again rather than gathering dust.

What the OT says:
Pop-up tunnels may look like simple play equipment, but as an occupational therapist I see them as one of the most hard-working pieces of kit in any play space. Crawling is foundational movement. When a child moves through the tunnel on hands and knees, they’re bearing weight through their arms and shoulders, which can support shoulder stability, core strength and the hand arches that later contribute to fine motor tasks like drawing and cutting. It’s also a reciprocal, cross-body movement pattern, which supports bilateral coordination.
The tunnel offers rich sensory input too. The enclosed space and the gentle contact of the fabric around a child’s body provide tactile and proprioceptive feedback. This helps children build body awareness: a sense of where their body is in space and how big it is relative to its surroundings. For many children, especially those who seek out movement or deep pressure, this kind of input can feel organising and calming. For more cautious children, the tunnel offers a gentle way to build confidence in an enclosed space at their own pace.
I love how easily the tunnel can be graded. Crawling forwards is a good starting point. Going backwards, trying animal walks, pushing a ball through with their head, or navigating a twisted tunnel all add a motor planning challenge, because the child has to work out how to sequence and adjust their movements. Adding it to an obstacle course brings in balance, sequencing and working memory as children remember the route. With siblings or friends, it naturally becomes a place for turn-taking, peek-a-boo and shared games, which supports social-emotional learning and language.
I’d recommend this tunnel for families who want a simple, versatile movement toy at home, and as a staple for OT rooms, classrooms and early learning centres.
