Little Dutch Gift Set - Safari Friends — tiny tree toys

Some of the very first toys a baby ever meets are the ones they'll return to again and again, not for what they do, but for how they feel.
The Little Dutch Safari Friends Gift Set brings together three gentle companions designed for exactly that: a soft cuddle cloth, a huggable lion soft toy, and a crocodile-shaped teething rattle, all dressed in the warm, natural safari tones Little Dutch is loved for.
Each piece in the set has its own quiet purpose. The cuddle cloth is sized just right for tiny hands to grip and drag along, becoming a familiar comfort object over time.
The lion soft toy is soft enough for cuddling and light enough for a newborn to begin reaching for.
The crocodile rattle adds gentle sound and a texture-rich surface for little fingers and gums to explore. Together, they form a set that grows alongside baby's very first months of discovery — from lying and watching, to reaching, to holding.
Made from high-quality, GRS-certified recycled polyester and finished to European safety standards, this set is as considered in its materials as it is in its design.
Presented in its own gift box, it's a set we're glad to include in an OT-curated store not because it teaches a skill outright, but because it supports the sensory, tactile, and early bonding experiences that lay the groundwork for everything that comes after. A lovely choice for a baby shower, a newborn welcome gift, or simply a first "just because."

As an occupational therapist, I love a gift set like this because it meets a newborn exactly where they are developmentally — there's nothing to "achieve" here, only things to notice, feel, and explore. In those very early months, a baby's world is built through their senses long before it's built through movement or language, and every item in this set speaks to that.
The cuddle cloth and the rattle both offer different tactile experiences — soft, smooth fabric against skin, and a firmer, more textured surface on the rattle. Offering a baby a range of textures like this supports early sensory processing, helping their nervous system begin to organise and make sense of touch input. The rattle's gentle sound also gives baby a reason to turn their head toward it, which is an early, important step in auditory tracking and orienting to sound.
The lion soft toy and rattle are both easy for tiny hands to begin gripping, even before a baby has real hand control. This kind of light, forgiving object is ideal for encouraging the very first stages of grasp and hand-eye coordination — baby doesn't need to succeed at holding it for it to be doing its job; simply reaching toward it, swiping at it, or bringing it to their mouth to explore (a completely normal and important way infants learn) all builds the foundation for more coordinated hand use later on.
There's also a quieter, equally important role these objects play: comfort. A soft, familiar item that a baby returns to again and again can become part of their early self-regulation and soothing repertoire, and that sense of a "constant" object is a gentle building block for emotional security. I'd happily recommend this set for a newborn at home, or as a calming, sensory-friendly addition to an early intervention or paediatric OT toy kit.
