Soft, rounded, and satisfying to hold, these silicone nesting mushrooms invite the kind of quiet, focused play that toddlers return to again and again. Four mushrooms in graduated sizes, from a tall rust-capped giant down to a tiny blue one, nest neatly inside one another, stack into a wobbly tower, or scatter across the floor to be sorted and matched by colour and size. Their smooth, rounded silicone caps and soft cream bases feel gentle in little hands and are easy to wipe clean after play.

There's no single "right" way to play with this set, which is exactly what makes it so valuable. A toddler might spend a whole afternoon simply nesting the smallest inside the largest, while an older sibling builds a leaning tower and watches it topple. Either way, the child is quietly working through ideas of size, order, and balance, the kind of early mathematical thinking that doesn't need flashcards or screens, just repetition and curiosity.

What the OT Says:

I recommend nesting toys like this often because they quietly teach seriation the ability to order objects by size which is a foundational early maths concept, long before a child can count or compare numbers formally. Lining these mushrooms up from largest to smallest, or nesting them correctly inside one another, asks a child to make visual judgements about size and act on them with their hands.

Picking up each mushroom and carefully placing it inside or on top of another also refines the pincer grasp and in-hand manipulation, particularly as the sizes get smaller and require a more precise grip. Stacking the mushrooms into a tower adds a balance and motor planning challenge, as children learn to place each piece with just enough control to keep the tower upright, building patience along with fine motor precision.

The soft, tactile silicone surface offers a gentle sensory input too, which makes this a lovely choice for children who are still building comfort with different textures, or who benefit from calm, repetitive tactile play as part of their sensory diet.
