Watch little eyes go wide as Magic Sand does the impossible, it goes underwater and comes out completely dry! This fascinating hydrophobic sand has been coated with a special water-repelling substance, so children can pour it into water, build underwater sandcastles, drain the water, and find the sand perfectly dry every single time. It's equal parts science experiment and sensory wonder, making it one of those toys that sparks genuine curiosity and keeps children coming back to play again and again.

What our OT says:
Magic Sand is a brilliant tool for combining sensory exploration with early science thinking. The tactile experience of scooping, pouring, and handling the sand, both above and below water, provides rich proprioceptive and tactile feedback that supports sensory processing and regulation. Watching the sand behave unexpectedly encourages curiosity, prediction, and cause-and-effect reasoning, which are key building blocks for cognitive and scientific thinking. The scooping and pouring actions also build fine motor control, hand-eye coordination, and bilateral hand use.
For children who are tactile-defensive, the fascinating "twist" of water play without the mess of wet hands can make this a wonderfully accessible sensory experience that gradually builds tolerance and engagement with new textures.
