There's nothing quite like a child's first attempt at making music, the enthusiastic bang of a tambourine, the wobble of a maraca, the proud toot of a recorder.

The Little Dutch Music Set in soft safari green brings five instruments together in one charming collection, giving little ones a proper first introduction to rhythm, sound, and musical exploration.

Inside the set's handy safari-print storage bag, children will find a tambourine, a xylophone with its own mallet, a maraca, a harmonica, and a recorder, each offering a different way to experiment with sound.

There's real variety here: percussion instruments to strike and shake, and wind instruments to blow and control, giving a child plenty to discover across a single set rather than just one repeated action.

Made with a mix of wood, metal, and textile detailing, and finished in soft, natural safari tones, this is a beautifully presented set that's as lovely to look at as it is to play.

Pack it away in its own bag when the concert's over, and bring it out again for the next family sing-along. A joyful, open-ended gift for a budding young musician, and a set we're glad to include in an OT-curated store for the coordination and self-expression it invites.

What the OT Says:

As an occupational therapist, I love a music set like this because it offers such a wide range of motor and sensory experiences in one collection, striking, shaking, blowing, and controlling breath, all within a single, joyful play session.

The percussion instruments, the tambourine, xylophone, and maraca are wonderful for developing coordination and motor planning. Striking the xylophone bars with the mallet, in particular, asks a child to coordinate what they see with what their hand does, supporting hand-eye coordination, while the repeated shaking and tapping motions build rhythm and timing, both of which connect to how a child's body organises and sequences movement more generally.

The harmonica and recorder introduce a different kind of challenge entirely, breath control. Learning to blow with just the right amount of air, and in the case of the recorder, coordinating finger placement at the same time, is genuinely sophisticated motor and sensory work for a young child, and it's wonderful practice for oral motor control, which has knock-on benefits for speech and feeding skills too.

Music-making is also a lovely, low-pressure way to support social-emotional learning whether that's taking turns with an instrument, playing alongside a sibling or parent, or simply expressing a mood through sound and rhythm. I'd happily recommend this set for home use, group play, or as a versatile, multi-sensory addition to a paediatric OT toolkit.
