Lightweight, highly absorbent and beautifully soft, the Maruyama Fitness Towel - Natural Persimmon combines traditional Japanese textile craftsmanship with the natural qualities of kakishibu, or Japanese persimmon tannin.
Made in Nara, Japan, its lightweight, breathable weave absorbs moisture efficiently while drying quickly between uses. Its long, narrow proportions sit comfortably around the neck during exercise, while the compact construction takes up very little space in a gym, hiking or travel bag.
The towel incorporates kakishibu, a traditional Japanese persimmon tannin derived from the fermented juice of young, unripe persimmons. Used in Japan for centuries in the treatment of textiles, paper, wood and other everyday objects, kakishibu is valued for its naturally functional qualities and its distinctive connection to Japanese craft.
Ideal for the gym, yoga and Pilates, running, hiking, cycling, travel or outdoor pursuits, the towel becomes increasingly soft and supple through washing and continued use.
Size: Approx. 15 × 105 cm

The Persimmon Tradition
Known in Japan as kakishibu, persimmon tannin is traditionally made from the fermented juice of young, unripe persimmons. For centuries, Japanese craftspeople have used this remarkable natural material in textiles, paper, wood and other functional objects.
Its use in the Maruyama Fitness Towel brings this centuries-old material tradition into contemporary life. The result is a lightweight and practical towel with an earthy, natural character - particularly appropriate for exercise, travel and time spent outdoors.
About Maruyama
Founded in Nara, Japan, in 1930, Maruyama Fiber Industry has its origins in the production of kaya, the light, loosely woven textile traditionally used for Japanese mosquito netting.
Drawing on generations of Nara textile expertise, Maruyama has reinterpreted traditional weaving techniques for contemporary living. Through its Nawrap collection, the company creates beautifully functional textiles characterised by their breathability, absorbency, durability and distinctive softness with continued use.
The Natural Persimmon Fitness Towel embodies this philosophy beautifully: Japanese heritage, natural materials and purposeful design in an exceptionally useful everyday textile.
