Minimal yet deeply expressive, the Takazawa KOMA Candle Stand is a beautifully crafted cast iron candle holder inspired by the traditional Japanese spinning top, or koma. Designed by Takazawa Candle, this elegant stand reflects the quiet sophistication of Japanese design while complementing the warm glow of traditional wa-rousoku candles.
Both sculptural and functional, the KOMA Candle Stand brings refined simplicity and timeless craftsmanship into the modern home.
Designed specifically to pair with Japanese candles, the stand provides a stable and elegant base while highlighting the delicate movement of the flame. The simplicity of the design reflects the Japanese aesthetic philosophy of wabi-sabi - an appreciation for quiet beauty, natural materials, and the passage of time. Whether used for daily rituals, meditation, tea ceremonies, or evening ambience, the KOMA Candle Stand creates a calm and intentional atmosphere.
About Takazawa Candle:
Founded in 1892, Takazawa Candle is one of Japan’s oldest remaining traditional candle makers, based in Nanao, Ishikawa Prefecture. For over a century, the company has specialised in handcrafted wa-rousoku - traditional Japanese candles made from natural plant-based waxes such as sumac, rice bran, and rapeseed oil.
Takazawa Candle is renowned for preserving historical candle-making techniques while collaborating with contemporary designers to create objects that honour tradition in modern living. Their candles are celebrated for their large, gentle flames, minimal smoke, and meditative ambience.
Today, Takazawa continues to embody the Japanese values of craftsmanship, simplicity, and intentional living, producing timeless objects designed to bring warmth and stillness into everyday life.
Quietly sculptural and beautifully understated, the Takazawa KOMA Candle Stand – Large transforms candlelight into an elegant ritual of calm, craftsmanship, and atmosphere.
