Cuddle and play! This sweet little flamingo promises more than just cuddles, tucked into her soft, textured body is a whole world for little ones to discover. There's a baby-safe mirror to gaze into, colourful rings to grasp, a textured teething ring to soothe sore gums, and a tiny baby flamingo tucked beneath her wing for an extra moment of surprise.
Every detail has been placed with a young baby's curiosity in mind, soft wings to hold onto, a textured tummy to explore, and sweet embroidered features that invite closeness rather than overwhelm. She's just as happy propped up for tummy time as she is tucked in for a cuddle at naptime, making her a companion that grows with baby through those earliest, most exploratory months.
Made from soft, gentle GRS-certified polyester in Little Dutch's warm pink Safari Friends palette, she's built for real everyday handling and easy care. A lovely newborn gift, and exactly the kind of quietly developmental, screen-free toy we're glad to have in an OT-curated store.
Total: 1 piece flamingo Recommended age: 0+ months, under adult supervision
As an occupational therapist, I love a toy like this because it packs so much purposeful sensory and motor opportunity into one soft, huggable shape, perfect for a stage when a baby's whole world is discovered through touch, sight, and the people and objects close to them.
The mix of textures across her wings, tummy, and tags supports early sensory processing, giving a baby's nervous system a rich but gentle variety of touch input to take in. Because everything is contained in one familiar "friend," babies can return to explore the same object again and again, which supports both sensory learning and that early sense of familiarity and comfort.
The grasping rings and teething ring are wonderful for early fine motor development, a baby doesn't need to succeed at holding on for this to be useful work; reaching, batting, and attempting to grip all build the coordination needed for more controlled hand use later on.
The teething ring also offers safe, appropriate oral exploration, which is a completely normal and important part of how babies learn about objects in their first year.
The mirror is one of my favourite features here too babies are naturally drawn to faces, and a safe mirror supports early visual tracking and the very first stages of self-awareness.
The small flamingo tucked beneath her wing adds a lovely element of gentle discovery a tiny "surprise" that rewards a baby's growing curiosity and persistence as they explore. I'd happily recommend this as a first soft toy at home, or as a versatile, multi-sensory tool for paediatric OT sessions.
