Lola's Tubes and Rolls

Inspired by the beloved open-ended rainbow wood toys families already know and love, our Wooden Rolls & Tubes set brings the same rich, varied play value in 72 generous pieces. Each roll and tube is painted in a different shade of the rainbow, and varies in height, width, and shape, some tall and slender, others short and wide, giving children an enormous range of ways to sort, stack, arrange, and build.

This is open-ended play in its purest form. Arrange the pieces by colour into a rainbow gradient, sort by height or width, stack them into towers, or build entirely imaginative structures, gardens, cityscapes, forests, whatever a child dreams up in the moment. With 72 pieces to work with, there's always room for a bigger, more ambitious creation, and always a fresh way to rearrange the same set the next time it comes out.

Beautifully finished and sized for confident little hands, this set is a lovely, long-lasting addition to any open-ended play collection, at home, in a classroom, or in a therapy space. It's exactly the kind of rich, screen-free, child-led play we love including in our range, colourful, versatile, and built to be returned to again and again.

What the OT Says:

Large rainbow-toned building sets like this one are among my favourite open-ended tools, because the sheer variety of piece sizes and colours gives children so many different ways to engage with the same set. Sorting pieces by colour, height, or width builds visual discrimination and early categorisation skills, while deciding how to balance a tall, narrow roll on top of a short, wide one calls on real problem-solving and spatial reasoning, a child has to consider stability, size, and shape all at once.

Picking up, positioning, and carefully stacking each piece also offers rich fine motor and hand-eye coordination practice. Because the pieces vary so much in size, a child's grip has to constantly adjust, wrapping fully around a wide tube one moment, using a more precise grasp for a slender roll the next, which is genuinely valuable variability for developing hand strength and control.

With 72 pieces on hand, this set also supports sustained, focused engagement over a long play session, and because there's no fixed way to use it, it welcomes returning to it with an entirely different goal each time, a rainbow gradient one day, a tall tower the next, an imaginative cityscape another day. Used with siblings or a group, it's also a lovely set for collaborative building and shared decision-making.

I recommend this as a genuinely versatile, long-lasting addition to any open-ended play space, at home, in a classroom, or in a therapy setting, it offers a wide developmental range in one colourful, well-made set.
