The Superiority of Grand Expression Modeling

When it comes to the authentic feel and response of a genuine acoustic piano, the Clavinova CLP-865GP delivers. Yamaha has distilled its piano-crafting expertise into the powerful prowess of the Clavinova’s Grand Expression Modeling sound system. Over the past decades, Yamaha has nearly perfected the piano-building craft, with many of the company’s grand pianos carving permanent residences in top studios and premier concert stages worldwide. Packed with unique, expertly integrated Yamaha technologies, the Clavinova CLP-865GP provides renowned expressive capability as it precisely executes your nuanced musical intent through the responsive touch of its keys and the feel of its pedals

VRM Physical Modeling Yields Stunning Realism and Expression

In a grand piano, sound resonates throughout the body of the instrument, producing distinctively rich, room-filling reverberation. Yamaha uses its improved Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) to re-create this acoustical phenomenon in the Clavinova CLP-865GP with more detail and nuance than ever. VRM calculates the various states of the strings from one instant to the next for each of the instrument’s 88 notes. This enables vivid, richly varied expression that reflects the infinite number of factors involved in a live performance, including the velocity with which you strike the keys, which keys are pressed, and your pedal timing.

The Superb Sound and Feel of the World’s Finest Concert Grand Pianos

The Clavinova CLP-865GP grand piano voices are sourced from premium, hand-selected Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial concert grand pianos tuned to perfection by top professional piano tuners. Only then were the sounds meticulously sampled in varying velocities, for a stunningly realistic grand piano sound with smooth tonal transformations perfectly matched to key pressure. From staccato to legato, pianissimo to forte, you hear superbly expressive sound that responds beautifully to your touch. Indeed, the CLP-865GP gives you realistic crisp staccatos and luxurious legatos for a nuanced response identical to a real grand piano.

Full-bodied Resonance, Just like an Ccoustic Piano

In a process analogous to that of an acoustic piano, the Clavinova’s body materials and speaker positioning are meticulously calibrated to ensure that the instrument resonates optimally. To achieve a sonic image uncannily close to that of a grand piano, the CLP-865GP employs diffusers precisely place by Yamaha’s design team. These components project the sound naturally and are oriented to create a soundfield akin to a true acoustic grand.

Record Your Performances and More

The Clavinova CLP-865GP serves as an excellent tool for improving repertoires or recording self-penned songs. Thanks to its multitrack MIDI song recorder, you’re equipped with 16 tracks to record for simultaneous playback. Pianists can easily record their songs with a single touch, saving themselves from unnecessary menu-diving distractions at the moment of inspiration. Apart from recording tools, the CLP-865GP also boasts Bluetooth for streaming music, 20 rhythm patterns, and 50 classical music pieces for learning through the free Smart Pianist app. The latter represents Yamaha’s digital app platform that offers users extended features to their digital pianos, sheet music, chord progression analyzation software, and more.

Impressive Binaural Sound Through Headphones

Playing your digital piano with headphones is one of the benefits of choosing a digital model. Although musicians can experience ear fatigue after long hours at the keys, Yamaha has this issue solved with their binaural sampling. With the binaural sampling method, special microphones positioned on a mannequin’s head in relation to a real pianist’s ears capture the auditory content. This way, the piano sounds are lifelike, full, natural, and less prone to fatiguing the ears. Furthermore, Yamaha added a volume limiter function to ensure experienced pianists or young learners can set a fixed value that shields their ears from the piano at high volumes. These are only a few examples of many that illustrate the way the Yamaha Clavinova CLP-855GP goes above and beyond to bring a genuine experience to its users.
