Scientific Name: Goeppertia (Calathea) Rosea Picta "Dottie"
Synonyms: Calathea Rosea Picta Dottie, Calathea Dottie
The Calathea Dottie can be considered a goth plant and is ideal for those lovers of deep purple to almost black foliage. And with everything goth, these gorgeous plants have a tinge of delicate beauty in the form of their beautifully pinky-purple brush stroke patterning. A truly striking houseplant.
Like with all Calathea houseplants these love high humidity and medium to bright filtered light. To thrive keep them consistently moist but avoid allowing the potting medium to stay soggy nor allow them to dry out. So be prepared, they can bit a touch diva-ish if not treated with attention.
Calathea houseplants make for fabulous accent pieces in a brightly lit bathroom or kitchen where humidity is naturally higher, though will happily live in any general living space as long as humidity is provided to them, achieve this by placing your plant on a pebble tray.
Pair this subtle beauty with a dark modern planter for something striking or lighten the mood with a delicate colour and use it as a tabletop feature or bookshelf stunner. Whichever spot you choose, these plants will captivate you.
Please note: Calathea are safe for children and pets, but prefer not to be eaten as it'll make them look less than the best.
